About Us: Buffalo Solar is a leader in commercial solar solutions, committed to delivering high-quality solar installations and excellent customer service. As we grow, we are looking for someone who understands what it takes to build solar projects from the ground up — and wants to transition their experience into an essential office-based role supporting our field teams.

Position Overview: We’re seeking a Procurement Specialist to manage materials purchasing and logistics for our commercial solar projects. This role is ideal for an experienced solar installer who’s ready to step off the roof and into the operations side of the business. If you’ve spent time in the field, know how systems go together, and can read a planset like second nature, we want to hear from you.

You’ll be responsible for reading project plans, ordering all necessary materials (especially balance of system components), and ensuring on-time delivery to keep our field teams running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review project plansets and accurately build materials lists for procurement.

  • Source, order, and track all materials, ensuring timely delivery to project sites.

  • Coordinate closely with field installation teams to understand timelines and material needs.

  • Maintain vendor relationships and negotiate pricing and delivery terms.

  • Proactively identify and resolve material shortages or delivery issues.

  • Manage inventory levels and ensure availability of critical components.

  • Support project managers with scheduling and logistics as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with solar installations (commercial preferred).

  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, electrical line drawings, and specifications.

  • Strong understanding of balance of system (BOS) components and field installation practices.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and inventory management tools is a plus.

  • Prior procurement or logistics experience is helpful but not required — we can train the right person with field experience.

Installer Experience is a mustBuffalo Solar is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate against any employee or applicant on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, age, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law. Compensation: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour

Our Story

Our President and Founder, Tyler Uebelhoer, knew the solar energy industry was for him from the start.

Working in the Western New York construction industry and as an electrician for a dozen years as well as growing up in Wyoming County surrounded by entrepreneurs, he knew building a clean energy company that created greater value for customers and more jobs for Buffalonians like him was what he was born to do.

You can tell he’s made for this business because he’s rarely behind his desk. He’s onsite at customers’ properties personally doing site assessments, providing thoughtful consultations, elbow deep in the installs, or out in the community building partnerships with other leaders in this industry.

That’s how Tyler’s wife and co-owner, Alicia Uebelhoer felt about Tyler’s vision. Alicia, with her classically Canadian people skills of friendliness and graciousness, has been the face and heart of Buffalo Solar’s marketing and customer service from the start.

Happily investing their life savings into this venture, Tyler and Alicia turned their South Buffalo living room into the first Buffalo Solar office, and hired their first employee who is still with the company.Today, the operations have grown substantially beyond their home and they now enjoy expansive, modern facilities.
